City Council Approves Airport Development Agreement – Stage Set for Cooperation Over Next Decade

Authority to Consider Approval February 7th; Agreement Means No New Terminal for at Least 10 Years, Joint Effort on Nighttime Noise, OK for Airport Purchase of Adjacent Parking Lot, No Changes in Size of Current Terminal, New Taxiway for East-West Runway

BURBANK, Calif., February 4, 2005 – The Burbank City Council gave final approval on February 1st to ordinances that finalize the terms of a landmark Development Agreement between the City of Burbank and the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority. A vote by the Airport Authority to consider adopting the same terms is now scheduled for February 7th.

“I am confident this agreement will be approved by the Authority. It marks the beginning of a new era in which the City and the Airport Authority recognize that the key to their mutual interests lies in cooperation,” said Authority President Charles Lombardo.

NOTE: The Airport Authority ratified the final Development Agreement February 7, 2005.
